New Bin Collection Times For Weymouth During Olympics
9:57am 21st July 2012
There's going to be a shakeup to bin collections in parts of Weymouth during the Olympic and Paralympics.
Although collection days won't change, household pick-ups in some areas will be earlier than usual timed at before 10am.
It's to make sure key Olympic routes for travelling fans and athletes are kept clear to avoid congestion by dustbin Lorries.
Communities in parts of Wyke, Lanehouse, Rodwell, Weymouth Town Centre and the Nothe will be affected.
Residents are asked to put out bins, bags and containers by 4am on their usual collection day, and not to put out waste before 8pm the night before.
There will be no changes across the rest of Weymouth and Portland.
Leaflets have been sent to affected households as well as information in the borough council's community newsletter Insight.
A full list of roads affected are available by visiting www.dorsetforyou.com/waste2012 or by calling the borough council on 01305 838000.
