An Army regiment in South Dorset has had a road named after them in Blandford.

One of the new roads on "Badbury Heights" will be named Rifles Way as a sign of thanks to the military.

The Town Council will officially unveil the naming at a ceremony on Thursday (2nd August 2012).

The regiment dates back to the second world war and was granted freedom of the town following the Great War.

Lieutenant Colonel Geoff Nichols told Wessex FM this latest honour means a lot to the whole regiment, past and present.
