Video Released After Dishwasher Fires

dishwasher fire

10:55am 10th August 2012

Fires resulting from faulty dishwashers have prompted Dorset Fire and Rescue to launch a video for worried householders.

They've found control panels have gone wrong on Bosch, Neff and Siemens models.

The video reminds users to check their dishwasher against the recall notice, the dangers of ignoring faults and includes some safety advice from Dorset Fire and Rescue.

Station Manager Andy Fox said: “We have attended incidents involving this particular dishwasher fault, across the county and the problem is not limited to Dorset. The manufacturers have recalled these appliances, sending fault notice letters to all owners who they had on their files. Once contacted, they will arrange to come out and replace the faulty part, free of charge. I would strongly advise anyone with a BOSCH, NEFF or Siemens dishwasher to contact the company immediately in order to prevent any more of these fires occurring.”

“The worrying thing is that if a fire like this occurs in the middle of the night home owners would have no warning that a fire was developing. This could easily lead to a very serious situation. Working smoke alarms do not prevent fires from starting – but they do warn people that it is happening – easily the difference between life and death.”

An excerpt from the official notice from Bosch reads as follows:

‘BSH Home Appliances Limited has announced an in-home repair programme of certain dishwashers manufactured between 1999 and early 2005. The affected dishwashers are in the batch number range from FD 7901 to FD 8504. Dishwashers which are outside the above batch number range are not affected.’

For more information on the recall notice placed on these type of dishwashers, please check the www.repairaction.co.uk or contact the company on 0800 0234881
