Man Dies After Fall In Weymouth Street

A 44-year-old Weymouth man has died after a falling over in the street.

Police have arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with the incident that happened on Sunday in Melcombe Regis area of the town.

The incident happened around 8pm in Turton Street, near to the Duke of Albany pub.

The victim was seen to fall over – he sustained a life threatening head injury and later died in hospital.

Detective Inspector Stewart Dipple of Weymouth CID, said: “This is a very sad incident and we are keen to establish the facts.

“I understand that there were several people in the vicinity who may have seen what happened and the events prior to the man sustaining his injuries.

“We would very much like to speak to anyone who has any information that may help us determine exactly what happened.”

The coroner and next of kin have been informed.
