Security Operation On The Seas Nearly Complete
9:00am 6th September 2012
A Navy Warship that's been providing Olympic Security on the Waters of Weymouth and Portland is getting ready to say farewell to the Dorset Coast.
For the past 2 months HMS Bulwark has been home to not only the Navy but staff from Dorset Police, Maritime Coastguard, Border Agency and LOCOG.
Together they've ensured the sailing events were safe to go ahead each day by patrolling the waters with Police boats, ribs commandeered by Royal Marines, pilots in Merlin helicopters and elite staff in the warships ops room.
Superintendent Charlie Eggar says the success of the operation is down to the sound partnership between all agencies who relished the opportunity to tackle such an enormous task.
Royal Navy Captain of HMS Bulwark Alex Burton says the entire staff onboard have been incredible.
