6 Dorset beaches are in need of a clean-up today (Sunday 16 September).

They include Chesil Cove and Abbotsbury Beach, and the council's coastal ranger team are looking for volunteers to help out at another Dorset Autumn Beach Clean.

They are being asked to come along to the beaches where they will be greeted by a beach master with instructions and equipment - rubbish bags, gloves and a survey form for information on what is collected - to repeat the success of previous beach clean events.

Last year 600 bags of rubbish were collected from beaches around the county.

For more information on how and where to volunteer for the beach clean contact Jenny Penney, Purbeck's coastal ranger, on 01305 228 952 or log on to www.dorsetforyou.com/greatdorsetbeachclean.
