Overhaul for Old Gravel Track in Weymouth
7:54am 21st September 2012
A gravel footpath in Weymouth - popular amongst cyclists - is gonna be tarmacked for a smoother ride.
The cycleway and footpath between Swannery Bridge and Chafey's Roundabout will get the treatment starting next Monday (24th September 2012).
Weeds and vegetation will be ripped up and a new surface built with the new smooth track expected to be done over 7 days.
It's hoped it'll improve links into the town centre.
Project Manager Emma Baker said: "This section of cycleway is an important link in Weymouth and Portland's cycling network; it will join up Chickerell, the Granby, Southill, Westham and Weymouth Town Centre,
Provided a paved surface will make it an easier journey for walkers and cyclists, and it will also ensure better access for residents who use mobility scooter".
