A pilot scheme has been launched to help women recovering from breast cancer in West Dorset.
The County Hospital has received funding to set-up a Nordic Walking scheme designed to help patients exercise after surgery.
Breast cancer specialist at the Dorset County Lorraine Sers told Wessex FM they're delighted to have won the money to fund their project, from the local Cancer Network. Click below to hear more.
The pilot scheme gets underway on October 20th and runs for a whole year. If its successful they hope to keep it running long term.
Lorraine says they'd like to get 10 new patients involved every 2 weeks and each course per patient runs for 8 weeks.
Each participant will be assessed and taught correct Nordic walking techniques before taking part in walks twice a week.
Any ladies who fancy getting involved or finding out more should contact Lorraine Sers or her colleague Anne Saunders on 01305 255160 where you can leave a message for them.
