Bridport Police on Trail of Fence Thieves
7:49am 16th October 2012
Have you been offered metal wire fencing under unusual circumstances and for a cheap cash price?
Police in Bridport are trying to trace 24 rolls of fencing stolen from a commercial yard in the town.
It was taken from a trading estate between 2.30 and 2.45am on Friday 12th of October and is valued at around one thousand pounds.
Police Constable Sean Cannon, of Bridport police, said: "The theft of these expensive items has caused great financial loss to the proprietor.
"The yard gate was forced open and the offenders used a saloon vehicle to take the fencing away.
"I am particularly keen to trace the stolen property and speak to anyone who has been offered fencing in strange circumstances, possibly for an unusually low cash sum.
"I would ask that anyone who has recently contracted someone to install such fencing should ensure they establish exactly where it has come from and insist on seeing an invoice.
"If they are at all suspicious, I would ask they contact us on 101."
Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101, and ask to speak to the Bridport duty sergeant quoting incident number 12:55. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
