Bosses Hope New Volunteer Can Save Vital Car Service in Cerne Abbas
8:41am 31st October 2012
A volunteer car scheme for elderly people living near Cerne Abbas, outside Dorchester, has been given a lifeline.
The Country Car Scheme is like a free taxi service, run by volunteers in Sydling Saint Nicholas and they've been looking for a new co-ordinator to keep them on the road.
The service helps people who aren't able to use public transport for essential journeys like trips to the hospital and doctors.
Dorset County Council - who subsidise the scheme - say someone has come forward to fill the position.
They're meeting the new co-ordinator to finalise details next week (6th November 2012).
