Magpies Are FA Cup Giant Killers

Dorchester V Plymouth

Published at 10:08pm 4th November 2012. (Updated at 9:13am 5th November 2012)

Dorchester Town's FA Cup run continues on

Magpies beat Plymouth Argyle 1-nil in yesterday's round 1 tie and will travel to either Luton or Nuneaton in Round 2.

Both are non league sides and give Dorcherster a real chance of reaching round 3 for the first time in their history...when the Premier League and Championship teams enter the competition.

Plymouth will claim the bizarre sending off of Conor Hournihane after 9 minutes had a major affect on the game.

Prevously booked for a foul on 4 minutes, he took a free kick for referee Collins' liking and was show another yellow...realising what he had done, the ref had no option but to show red...Plymouth boss Carl Fletcher saw red!

The first half was even but Magpies were the better side in the second.

Jake Gosling scored 4 minutes after the break, during a spell in which Plymouth were pinned back in their own half for a full 15 minutes.

A fine save by Jason Matthews prevented the visitors snatching an equaliser mid way through the second half, but Magpies' Ben Watson and Jon Garcia had chances before that to make the game safe.

Dorchester held out despite late Plymouth pressure to record a famous victory.
