Woman Left Distraught Over Stolen Walking Stick

7:50am 8th November 2012
(Updated 10:27am 8th November 2012)

A Weymouth woman has made an emotional plea to Wessex FM to find the thieves who stole her walking stick.

Debra Wakeford was at work in Morrisons when it was taken from the self service checkouts 2 days ago (Tuesday 6th November 2012).

She's having to hobble around with her bad back and can't understand why anyone would want to take it.

Debra says has sentimental value too, and was made by a close friend who's no longer alive. The special walking stick is around 4 feet long, made of dark wood, with 3 knots in it and has a small round handle on top.

A distraught Debra told Wessex FM she's going to have to go to Hospital to get a standard walking stick and hopes someone hands her own one in.

She says no one will get in trouble. If anyone knows what happened to the stick or where it is now they're urged to contact Morrisions in Weymouth or Debra directly on 01305 816032.
