Bridport Community Fight For Their Field

A small community in Bridport are once again fighting to protect a bit of greenland from developers.

The field in Bradpole - just off Jessop Avenue - has been put up for consideration as an "alternative site" for a new housing estate by landowners.

Earlier in the year the popular area - known as Happy Island - was saved from developers when West Dorset District Council agreed not include the area in their draft local plan.

But now, the landowners have been given the chance to put the site forward to the Government inspector as an "alternative site" to those already in the plan.

The role of the inspector is to judge whether or not the council's plan is in line with the government policy and whether or not they've put aside enough land for housing provision which the Council believes they have.

Bradpole Councillor Ronald Coatsworth is calling on residents to write objection letters that will be given to the inspector.

The deadline is December 20th, click here to find out more.
