Tax Man's Message to Dorset Workers
2:37pm 19th December 2012
There's a reminder out to people in South Dorset who haven't completed their tax return for 2011 and 2012.
Failing to do so could incur a fine of up to £900.
The reminder comes from HM Revenue and Customs WHO has to account for over 10 and a half million self-assessment tax returns for the year.
The deadline for online returns is 31st January 2013.
If you miss the cut off point you'll get hit with a £100 fine even if there's no tax to pay or if the tax due is paid on time.
If you still haven't paid after 3 months you'll receive penalties of £10 per day.
After six months, a further penalty of five per cent of the tax due or £300, whichever is greater; and after 12 months, another five per cent or £300 charge, whichever is greater.
HMRC launch their tax returns reminder campaign in Dorset later this month.
