Book Your Child's School Place

Dorset Map

12:04am 23rd December 2012

If your child is starting school in September, you have until the middle of January to apply for a place.

Dorset County Council say it's for children born between the 1st September 2008 and the 31st of August 2009, and also applies for youngsters moving to middle or junior school.

You'll need to complete a form that needs to be in by the 15th January.

If you are a Dorset resident, school admissions are handled by Dorset County Council. The quickest and easiest way to apply is online at www.dorsetforyou.com/schooladmissions.  Alternatively, you can download the form using the same web address, or telephone 01305 221060 for a paper copy and parents' guide to be sent to you.

Cllr Toni Coombs, cabinet member for children's services at Dorset County Council, said:

""It is very important that you apply by 15 January to make sure that your application is dealt with on time. We have tried to make the process as easy as possible and our parents' guide has all the information to help you submit your application. Our webpages also provide details on the application process, plus individual schools and links to Ofsted reports."

If you apply online you will be able to view the outcome online on 16 April 2013 (primary, middle and junior applications). In all cases a letter with the outcome of your application will be posted to you first class on this date.
