Puddletown Library Soon To Be Run By Volunteers

news_books.jpg

9:33am 2nd January 2013

It's a new era for Puddletown library.

Local volunteers have become the first in Dorset to take over the public library from Dorset County Council.

From next Monday (7th January), it'll be their job to keep the library up and running and find the money to pay the bills.

Puddletown is one of nine small libraries where staff librarians are being withdrawn. As a result one has closed down (Portland Underhill) but the other eight will be run entirely by the communities they serve, with books and technical services being supplied by Dorchester.

The library will be staffed by 28 volunteers and staffed for 4 days a week.
