The spirit of the Olympics could be back on Weymouth beach this summer.
Borough Councillors have met to discuss plans to bring back the Live Site and Sports Arena along the seafront.
Members have listened to proposals and will make a decision at a later date.
Sport England says participation in sport amongst youngsters and adults has increased since the 2012 Games.
Weymouth & Portland Borough Council Corporate Affairs and Continuous Improvement brief holder Cllr Mike Goodman said: “ The borough council’s management committee discussed the Weymouth, Portland & Dorset Post Games Legacy report which outlined the benefits of hosting the sailing events for the Olympic and Paralymic Games in Weymouth and Portland that have already been achieved and set the scene for future work.
“The report’s action plan contained 66 potential projects of which 10 have been selected as the top priorities to be taken forward over the coming months. Subject to securing the funding, these include the proposed ‘Summer to Remember’ Festival for 2013, which could bring back the popular beach sports arena and a beach stage, the Ambassador volunteers as well as the torch wading event.
“Members agreed that these action plans should now be pursued as a priority and the committee will be monitoring progress on a regular basis.”
