Gritters Get Ready To Roll

2:12pm 15th January 2013

Gritting trucks will be out treating the roads around South Dorset this evening (Tuesday 15th January) with temperatures expected to hit freezing again tonight.

Smaller towns and villages like Sydling St Nicholas and Abbotsbury were badly affected by sheet ice this morning with reports of people trapped in their cars.

Dorset Police had to close 2 roads because conditions were so dangerous.

The A35 from Bridport to Dorchester was badly affected too with major tailbacks causing congestion all morning.

Dorset County Council has told Wessex FM they have plenty of salt and gritting supplies and were out last night, and will be out treating the roads all week.
