Dorset Fire And Rescue Up For Top Award

Dorset Fire and Rescue service have been shortlisted for a prestigious award.
Working in collaboration with other fire services across the South West, they're now in the running for the European Information Security Project of the year sponsored by S_C Magazine.
The projects about ensuring that sensitive information is safeguarded but shared with other partnern which the service says may save lives in the long run.
A spokesperson for Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said: "Raising the service's policies, procedures, systems, governance a nd IT infrastructure up to the stringent requirements of UK Her Majesty's Government standards would not have been pos sible without adopting a collaborative approach.
"This has enabled considerable savings to be made in collaborative procurements and the development of common policies."
The spokesperson added that the service was now seen by its peers as 'leaders in information assurance within the fire service sector and have paved the way for other services to follow'.
Vikki Shearing, head of information management at Dorset Fire and Rescue Service, said: "The increased level of security, provided through this South West collaboration project, will improve the Fire Service's operational response capabilities and may save lives in the long run."
The winner is due to be announced on 23 April.
