Bridport Targeted By Email Scammers

A warning's been issued by Bridport Police to beware of scam emails which appear to be from a friend stranded in a foreign country.

The advice comes after a number of residents in the area were targeted.

What makes this hoax more realistic is that the email comes from the friend's real email account.

Police say many people have become victims of this scam and have lost money to these criminals.

The advice from Bridport Police is:

Be wary of any email that you receive that asks you to transfer money, even if the message appears to come from a friend. Users should make sure that their email account details are as secure as possible, and be wary of possible phishing scams designed to steal their account details.
