Dorchester Community Groups the First to Benefit from New National Scheme
1:27pm 8th March 2013
A scheme to help community groups in the UK is being trialled for the first time in Dorchester.
The initiative is being led by Costa Coffee who says they want to do something for the local community.
Dorchester store manager Carolyn Paul told Wessex FM they have 3 ways in which they can help clubs in need. The coffee chain has £250 to give away to fund things like new kit or equipment, they have space in their store that can be used for free on club nights, or staff are ready to volunteer and help clubs carry out work.
Carolyn says long as you're an established community group or club you can apply, for example sports teams, book clubs, youth centres, children’s groups, gym clubs or the Scout's and Guides - to name a few.
If your Dorchester group wants to apply all you have to do is write a letter on why your group deserves some help, and hand it in to the Dorchester branch on South Street.
Costa Coffee plan to roll out the scheme nationwide in the coming months.
