The Minister for Health says "he's listening" after concerns were raised over the future of Swanage Hospital.
A number of changes are planned for the local health service.
For months South Dorset MP Richard Drax has been leading the campaign charge to save the 15 bed facility from potential closure.
Following a visit to the Department of Health Minister Dan Poulter told him any concerns he had were "premature".
He assured our MP the people of Purbeck would be listened to before any major decisions were made ... And a consultation period will begin in September.
Mr Drax welcome the news saying: "We must ensure the concerns of local residents are heard .. Swanage Hospital is a local gem".
