Dorset Record Stores Celebrate National Day

Record Stores across Dorset are gearing up for the sixth annual Record Store Day which takes place tomorrow (20th April).
Stores across the county are set to participate in a celebratory day of music with limited edition releases and live performances.
Despite online streaming services and digital downloads, record sales are continuing to rise. According to the British Phonographic Industry, 389,000 vinyl records were sold last year with £5.7m spent on album sales alone.
Record Store Day has undoubdtedly influenced the resurgence. The day originated in the US in 2007 with organisers taking inpsiration from Comic Book Day. RSD is set to be bigger than ever this year with exclusive releases from the likes of David Bowie, Nick Cave, Paul Weller and Pulp. Jack White is the events global ambassador.
