Dorset Beaches Tested for Water Quality
9:29am 6th May 2013
Dorset beach bathing water is being tested ahead of the summer season.
The Environment agency will be taking samples from across the South West and testing them for bacteria.
The quality of bathing waters around the South West coast is extremely high with 98% of beaches meeting the current standards.
Profiles of each beach will be published online so people can choose which beaches they want to visit.
Bathing Water Project Manager Jonathan Ponting said:
"The vast majority of the beaches in the South West have extremely good quality bathing water.
"There has been a massive improvement in the past 20 years but there are things that we can still do".
