400 Jobs Coming To Weymouth

Work's now started on the new Sainsbury's store in Weymouth.

Construction has begun at the Gateway Site - with the supermarket expected to create 400 full and part time jobs.

The building work is expected to be finished in October.

Gary Mudge, Sainsbury's Project Manager, said: "It's great to be moving from the planning stage to actual construction and see the development start to take shape. We are looking forward to working with the community and contributing to the regeneration of this area.

"We expect to finish building the store in October and I would like to reassure the community that we will be doing this with utmost consideration for neighbours of the site."

The store will be equipped with advanced green features to reduce its carbon footprint. These include a rainwater harvesting system that supplies toilets and provides watering for plants around the store. The store and car park will also make extensive use of low-energy LED bulbs.
