11:22am 9th May 2013

There've been a series of burglaries and car crimes in Swanage.

They happened overnight on Tuesday - a number of cars, garages and sheds were broken into on Bon Accord Road, Queens Road, Manor Road, Russell Avenue and Stafford Road.

Police Constable Simon Colvin, of Purbeck police, said: "At approximately 12.20am a prowler was disturbed on Manor Road. He can be described as a white man in his 20s, approximately five feet nine inches tall, of slight build with short dark hair. He was wearing a body warmer and a dark coloured fleece.

"Later that morning, at approximately 2.20am, offenders were disturbed while breaking into a vehicle on Bon Accord Road. They ran away and dropped a bag of stolen property which was recovered. There are no descriptions apart from that one was wearing a hat.

"I am appealing for anyone who witnessed these incidents or recalls any suspicious activity in the area to contact Dorset Police.

"I urge anyone with information about those responsible to come forward.

"All calls will be treated in the strictest of confidence."

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
