Volunteers are needed near Bridport to help prevent a riverbank, damaged by last year's floods, from giving way.
60 metres of bank on the River Asker at Bradpole needs shoring up, and the work has to finish by Saturday afternoon.
The area, near Happy Island, is known to be a habitat for water vowles.
Dorset Countryside Access officer Jill Exton says Dorset Wildlife trust volunteers kick-started the initiative by helping out on Thursday, but now they need residents to pitch in to help complete the job.
They'll be weaving natural willow between stakes along the riverbank, where walkers and cyclists can come up to the water's edge.
Waders and wellies will be provided, as will tea and coffee for those taking part.
Anyone interested in helping out should contact Jill Exton, Countryside Access Officer, at Dorset County Council.
