A woman has escaped an attempted sexual attack that happened in broad daylight in Sturminster Newton

Details of the incident have only just been released by Dorset Police.

The victim, a 27-year-old woman, was walking near the sorting office on the Butts Pond Industrial Estate last Monday (13th May) at around 2pm.

It was then she was pushed to the ground by a man who tried to touch her over her clothing.

She managed to kick him off before he ran away.

Police describe the man as white, around 6 feet tall with dark hair, with facial piercings and a distinctive tattoo on his neck.

Police Constable Andy Marsh, of West Dorset CID, said: "This was an unprovoked attack and it is likely that a number of people would have been in the area around the time it took place.

"The offender is described as a white man aged in his twenties, around six feet tall and with black hair.

"He was wearing a black v-neck jumper with tracksuit bottoms that had a thin white line down the side of the leg.

"Witnesses and anyone with information about the incident should contact Dorset Police as soon as possible in the strictest confidence."

No arrests have been made.
