Man Arrested After Drugs Found At Weymouth Flat

A man's been released on police bail after being charged with drugs related offences and another's had a street warning, following the discovery of what's believed to be cannabis at a property in Weymouth.
Weymouth Police Commander Les Fry's praised the constable and a colleague who were attending a block of flats on Abbotsbury Road on a separate issue.
Dorset Police say PC Aiden Meredith and Safer Neighbourhood officers overheard two males discussing how to make money from selling drugs.
They also smelt what they believed to be cannabis being burnt.
A search of that flat and another premises was subsequently carried out under PACE and the officers located an amount of cash and vegetable matter which is thought to be cannabis a Class B controlled substance.
In all drugs in excess of £500 was seized together with an amount of cash.
Constable Aiden Meredith of Weymouth Police said " Drugs do have a detrimental effect on people’s lives and there is a clear connection between drugs and crime. We will do all that we can to support drug users through other agency work and will take a strong and positive approach towards those who sell controlled substances"
