Help Available For Carers In Dorset

There are 50,000 people in Dorset providing care to a relative or friend on a daily basis.

Dorset County Council's released the figure as part of National Carers Week.

Three in five of us will become a carer at some point and the aim of the week is to highlight what help is available.

A special event is being held at the Unitarian Church in East Street in Bridport tomorrow (11 June) with more events around the rest of the county throughout the week.

Dorset based events to mark Carers' Week include:

Dorchester Event
Wednesday 12 June
Dorchester Day Centre
 
Christchurch Event

East Dorset Event
Thursday 13 June
St Marys Church, Church Road, Ferndown
Weymouth and Portland Event
Friday 14 June
Weymouth Community Fire Station, Radipole Road, Weymouth.
 
Purbeck Event
Wednesday 26 June
Venue to be confirmed
 


All events run from 10am till 2pm and will include:
 
 
-  A buffet lunch
-  The opportunity to meet and talk with local Carers Caseworker and access other support and advice
-  The opportunity to find out about the Carers Activity Service.
