A Police Officer has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a collision with a car on the A35 at Askers Hill.
Dorset Police have told Wessex FM the on duty Officer was treated at the scene and has been taken to Dorset County Hospital.
A road closure was in place at the Bridport end of the A35 and surrounding minor roads. Greens Roundabout and Monkeys Jump was also closed off.
In a separate accident at Askerswell around 11:35am today, 3 people were taken to hospital but didn't suffer life threatening injuries.
Dorset Police had issued a warning to motorists of hazardous conditions on the A35 earlier due low lying fog and people were urged to reduce their speed.
Wessex FM's Abby Newbery had to make her own diversion around the A35 to get to Bridport: "I had to take my own route home via Martinstown, Police are diverting people back to Dorchester. I did take the A35 this morning and it was really foggy visibility was really poor."
