Bridport Food And Beer Festival Starts Today

Top notch local food is being dished up in Bridport today.
It's the start of Bridport Food and Beer Festival.
60 local food and drink producers will be exhibiting in the town so you can find something different to try and take home.
And Dorset Celebrity Chef Lesley Waters will also be whipping foodies into a frenzie with a display in the cookery theatre at 12.30.

For those that would like to have a go at cooking, Tim Maddams of River cottage fame having appeared regularly in the River Cottage TV Series , is running adult and child hands- on cookery classes in the Yeovil College Feast Bus. He will be teaching people how make a simple dish from scratch, talking about the importance of local food and home cooking and the issue of food waste. There will be a charge of £5 per couple and there will be five or six sessions, which will be bookable in advance and on the day.
Also in the RoundTable Children's Marquee there are going to be FREE food workshops and art activities running from 10am - 4pm . A chance for children to learn hands-on how traditional cheese is made with Mary Durling, pedal power your own smoothies with Dave and Sam from Five Penny Farm using fresh local yogurt and fruit, knead and make bread rolls with dough from Pheonix Bakery, decorate delicious biscuits from Leakers AND help Angie Porter from Local food Links to create a gorgeous map of all our fantastic local food producers.
And that's not all…. you can enjoy a cup of Dorset Tea and a delicious cake from Leakers in the Festival Café whilst soaking up the festival atmosphere and listening to music!!
