Dover Athletic v DORCHESTER Biggleswade Town v WEYMOUTH BRIDPORT v Odd Down

The local football season has hardly begun but the gaps are starting to show among our 3 local teams.

Weymouth are bridging that gap and steaming out in front with just 2 losses to their name so far. They're currently 8th in the League and just 9 points from the top spot.

Today (Saturday 5th October) they play Biggleswade Town away, in the first meeting between the 2 sides in either clubs history.

Their opponents were promoted last year and are currently in the bottom 5.

Manager Brendan King told Wessex FM the lads are confident and he's expecting a touch match. He also said his side need to do better in attack;

"I know we scored 4 in the week but, before and in the last few games we've been creating chances but not scoring very many. If we can do better finishing we can take the pressure off the guys at the back."

Elsewhere, the talk from Dorchester this week has been about the financial problems at the club.

The Magpies are bottom of the league with only 1 win so far this season. A statement was published on the clubs website midweek, admitting financial trouble and cuts to the player budget following the FA Cup loss to Shortwood.

Last year's fairy-tale run in the competition earned the side a substantial sum of money which was reinvested.
Today they play Dover Athletic away. They'll be without Ben Watson and Aaran Pugh who have left for Truro City.

And Bridport are looking to build on their recent good fortune with another win when they host Odd Down.

They've won 2 out of their last 3 matches.

Bees Manager Trevor Senior told us a win could send them on their way:

 "We're expecting a tough game but going in to it with a bit of form. The league at the moment, everyone is capable of beating each other so we're hoping to put a run together so we can move up".
