Over 300 runners basked in the glorious sunshine while donning their running shoes for the popular Weymouth Bay 10K run today (16th March).
From Bowleze Cove all the way down to Pleasure Pier the promenade was a sea of bright colours as people sweated it out in their fluorescent running gear and charity vests.
MCC Promotions organised the event that supported the charity Crohn's and Colitis UK.
The first to cross the line in the men’s was Joshua Low with an incredibly speedy 35 minutes 26 seconds. His closest rival Jim Davies clocked a 36:28.
Sarah Trim claimed the women’s crown, nearly 3 mins ahead of the nearest competitor, with a top time of 41 minutes 17 seconds. Jen Lovesy followed in second with a time of 44:13.
Our very own Luke de Costa from news took part in the race too and said it was a beautiful sunny day to go running;
"The weather was perfect, bright and sunny, and there were loads of people lining the race cheering us on. I gotta say it was tough though. I'm not much of a runner but thought the Weymouth event was the perfect challenge to start the year. I didn't quite hit the time I wanted but thoroughly enjoyed the whole race. Well organised and for a great cause. plus a t-shirt and a medal at the end for all races!!!"
