Dorset Trainer Focused on the Future after Cheltenham

Rock on Ruby with training team

Dorset racehorse trainer Harry Fry's looking to the future after an unsuccessful Cheltenham Festival.

While all three of his runners finished, none won any prize money.

Rock On Ruby's jumping let him down in the Arkle Trophy. Fry told Wessex FM the horse made a mistake at the third fence and subsequent errors 'frightened him', and that there'll be discussions with owners about the next steps in his career.

Highland Retreat, who he describes as a 'mudlark', saw her chances diminish as dry weather made the ground firmer than ideal for her in the OLBG Mares Hurdle.

Vukovar was badly hampered by a horse which fell in front of him, nearly bringing him down and it was only the supreme efforts of jockey Noel Fehily which allowed him to stay on his feet, though it was a case of 'playing catch up' rather than having a realistic winning chance from that point on in the JLT Novices chase.

Fry's hoping for better luck with runners who have winning chances at the Grand National and Scottish National meetings next month.
