A sailing school, set up in memory of Dorset Olympian Andrew Simpson, officially opens at the National Sailing Academy today (Friday 9th May).

The hub will help train and nurture young local talent from a grassroots level right through to experienced sailors.

The idea for the new school, that's named after Andrew who was affectionately known as "Bart", was the brainchild of the Andrew Simpson Foundation.

Bart's sister Amanda, Trustee of the foundation, says it's a fitting tribute;

"This is a fantastic opportunity for ASSF to engage with grass roots sailing in a place where Andrew spent much of his youth and adult sailing life.  We look forward to working with local and national communities to make this venture at the WPNSA a huge success'.

Olympic hero Ben Ainslie will cut the ribbon and officially open the sailing school at Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy this morning.

Andrew was tragically killed in a sailing accident while training for the America's Cup in the States a year ago.
