Weymouth Cricketers hope To Beat Weather

Cricket

8:03am 31st May 2014

Weymouth's first team cricketers take on Stalbridge in the Premier Division 1 today (Saturday 31st May).

The 50 overs match is set for a 1pm start.

They had their match against Poole called off due to bad weather last week, something that's frustrating for Weymouth Captain and Batsman Kieran Womble:

"Most difficult thing is the general motivation with the weather really. We try to keep spirits high within the dressing room but unfortunately bad weather can put it down if we get a bad run of a couple of weeks."

Kieran told us Stalbridge are a solid opponent for his side:

"We've played them for a number of years they've been in the top league and we really have close games against them, I expect this one to be no different."

The batsman and wicket keeper told us the sport is picking up in Weymouth too:

"It's getting there, little things like weather and different sports in the summer, do affect people taking it up but I think our team is definitely on the up."
