Weymouth's Lily's A World Paddleboard Champ

A Weymouth teenager's a world champion paddleboarder.

15 year old Lily Young's just back from Germany where she came away with the female youth champion title at the Stand Up Paddle Board Championships.

Lily, of Wyke Road, had to complete sprint, mid and long distances, totaling about 12 kilometres around the waters of Lake Chiemsee in Bavaria.

The event saw competitors from around the world including the USA and Australia using identical boards made by the Naish brand from Hawaii.

The UK team also took a silver in the sprint and a silver and a bronze in mid distance

Paddleboarding's one of the fastest growing water sports. Lily qualified for her place in the UK team off Weymouth in July.
