Nigel Biddlecombe is stepping down as chairman of Weymouth FC.

He's issued a statement on the club's fans forum.

In it, he says there are a number of reasons for the decisions, some which make it difficult to give the time and attention to the role he would like.

Nigel's statement speaks of his pride to have been chairman of the club and he's happy that with the help of fellow directors and supporters, the club's been guided away from desperate straits into a more healthy position.

He signed off  with this tribute: ' I want to say a huge "thank you" to you all for the encouragement and assistance you have given me during my tenure and I trust that the same assistance will be given to the new Chairman and the Board of Directors, Jason, the playing staff and all the volunteers that will continue our efforts that will - hopefully in the near future - take this club back where it belongs. Over the next few days I intend to consider my future at the club and whether there is a role for me to play within the current Board, but - once again - my humble thanks to you all. Nothing I have done over the past few years could have been achieved without your dedicated, magnificent support."

Many fans have expressed their thanks to Mr Biddlecombe for his dedication to the club in difficult times, on the forum.
