RACING - First Race Revealed For Rock On Ruby

Rock on Ruby

Published at 8:54am 20th October 2014.

Dorset racehorse trainer Harry Fry's revealed there are no plans for his former Champion Hurdler, Rock On Ruby to go steeplechasing this season.

Writing in his weekly blog for StanJames.com, Harry said his first race is likely to be in the Coral Hurdle over 2 miles 3 furlongs at Ascot on November 22nd.

The trainer, who's yard is at Seaborough, near Beaminster, tried the horse over fences but his jumping was exposed at the Cheltenham Festival.

He was switched back to hurdles to restore his confidence a few weeks later and over a longer distance than he'd usually run, and ran one of the stars of last season, 'The New One', to a very close second at Aintree.
