9-Year-Old Local Boy Takes Part In Major Motocross Beach Race

Tristan Daniels

Published at 8:34am 31st October 2014.

Dorchester's small speed demon sped into an impressive 12th place at this year's Weston-Super-Mare Beach race.

9-year-old Tristan Daniels was fighting to break into the top ten in the Junior Class race, but a stuck throttle cost him 10 crucial minutes.

It was the first time the youngster had done anything like this and battled across the sands for 75 minutes.

The course involves racing down the beach for half a mile, hurdling large sand dunes, dodging puddles and scaling jumps while being watch by thousands of fans.

Tristan said: "It was really helpful to see so many people cheering me on around the course, they were very nice and it gives you a boost."

The event is now in its 32nd year and it's said to be one of the most demanding races in the motocross calendar.
