Budmouth Girls Impress In First Rugby Matches

Girls Rugby 2

(Updated 9:30am 3rd December 2014)

9:28am 3rd December 2014

Weymouth and Portland RFC organised some games of rugby between Budmouth year 7, 8 and 9 and St Osmunds. Both school are coaching and playing rugby, touch and contact in lesson time and after school and the natural progression of this was to play some matches.

The girls did not fail to impress everybody with they way they played the games and how much they had learn't in such a short time.

Year 7's

Budmouth 30 vs St Osmunds 10, a great game with the youngest players showing what they have learnt, some great passes and good support play, but it was the Budmouth team that finished as winners.

Year 8

Budmouth 20 vs St Osmunds 30

A great game of contact rugby that was very close until the last 5 minutes when the experience of the St Osmunds team showed. Some great tackles and some great support play from both teams.

Year 9

Budmouth 25 vs St Osmunds 20

This was such a closely fought battle that we had to play extra time to decide a winner with great tackling, good contact skills and some great individual skills from the girls and a hard fought win for Budmouth.

The winning teams were awarded a trophy which was donated by Weymouth and Portland RFC, as this will become and annual event with invitations going out to all local secondary schools.
