The landlord of the Wessex Stadium has told the Weymouth Wildcats they won't be able to lease the track.

Weymouth Speedway have been dealt a blow in their plans to bring back racing to the Wessex Stadium.

They had bene in talks with the landlord at the site for the last few months, with regards to reusing the site for 2 years, until April 2018.

The Wildcats say things were looking extremely positive for the return of speedway at the stadium, planning permission pending.  They received an offer and possible terms of tenancy just over a week ago, but that's now been withdrawn.

The landlord says it could have an impact on any future planning application.

The Wildcats say, "This has obviously come as a shock to us but one which we will over come and we are more determined to bring speedway back to the area. We will now start looking around for a suitable location for a track to go."

The Wildcats now have 4 meetings scheduled, the first of which is on The Isle of Wight in the 4 team tournament April 14th, Exeter in a development league 2nd half challenge on April 29th at Somerset's Oak Tree Arena, Mildenhall on May 15th and Buxton on May 29th.
