New Dawn For Weymouth FC And The Riviera In Weymouth.

Weymouth Football Club Riviera 1

(Updated 8:33am 28th May 2012)

11:57am 26th May 2012

It's a new dawn for Weymouth Football Club and the Riviera in Weymouth.

The Hotel at Bowleaze Cove which has just undergone a multi-million pound refurbishment and now the Club's main sponsors.

The deal includes kit sponsorship and the players will use the hotels leisure facilities.

They say it's a fitting partnership as both are re-launching themselves this summer.

Weymouth Football Club and The Riviera Hotel are coming together in a new partnership.

The club has already sold 130 season tickets for the new season - which is the highest number pre-season sales for the last three years.

Here's a statement from the club given to Wessex FM:

Dear Terras Supportors,
As you are aware, the Commercial  Team have been quietly going about their business in seeking a new Main Sponsor for WFC following Shaun's very kind gesture to give back the home shirt sponsorship for the benefit of WFC Ltd, providing the value of any deal exceeds that which Shaun pledged through his business, BLONDZ. Cautious and confidential negotiations have been on-going with our new main sponsor since we took control of the club from the Rolls Family.
Our Commercial Manager, Glenn Taylor, has been leading these talks and negotiations along with Iain Stone and whilst a deal was agreed very early on in the negotiations, the make-up and exact details of what the deal contained have been put together in a very professional manner.
We are very pleased to announce that our new Main Sponsor is "Riviera Hotel" for 2012/13 Season with an option of a 2nd/3rd Season.
The "Riviera Hotel" will be on the front of both the Home and Away 1st Team Shirt as part of the Sponsorship Deal. The deal was very much sold on the community aspirations of WFC, and the Riviera Hotel really liked this vision especially the plans to have WFC Ladies, as well as planning to get the U18's back in the fold.
This is a very exciting time for Weymouth FC and the Riviera Hotel, and is a great way to get the 2012/13 Season under-way. There are many synergies between our two businesses and we very much look forward to working with the "Riviera Hotel" for many years to come.
Comment from the Chairman:-
I would like to say how proud I am to see this deal concluded by our Commercial Team, led by Glenn Taylor and assisted by Iain Stone, Ralph Ricardo and Tony McDonnell. This is a fantastic way to launch Weymouth FC into the future and it will enable us to move towards the future vision we have all dreamed about creating for both WFC and the Community. Thank you to Kevin Bungay at Riviera Hotel, and Julie Cleaver of Popcorn Marketing for investing and supporting Weymouth FC and we hope to repay you with plenty of brand visibility for the recently re-opened and refurbished Riviera Hotel and Leisure complex.
Also, I would like to personally thank Shaun Hennessy for allowing this deal to become possible through his very kind gesture and we very much look forward to seeing how we can enable the BLONDZ sopnsorship to continue at Weymouth FC into 2012/13 Season in other ways as Shaun indicated.
