Weymouth and Portland's Olympic venue has won the right to host a top flight sailing regatta.

The National Sailing Academy - where Team GB's Ben Ainslie made Olympic history - will welcome legends of the sport for the 2016 Vintage Yachting Games.

The venue beat some of the worlds best sporting locations to host the 3rd edition of the games.

Around 650 competitors will take to the water for the event.

The WPNSA accepted the Vintage Yachting Games flag as part of a formal handover ceremony.

Yachting was included in the Olympic Games as early as 1896 and has generated over 46 different classes over the years.
