Historic Day For Dorchester Town FC

6:52am 17th May 2013

Today marks a new era for Dorchester Town Football Club (Friday 17th May).

For the first time a Community Trust has taken co-ownership of the team and will have a large say in how they're run in the future.

Dorchester Town Youth FC has joined the trust in their new role too, with current club chairman Shaun Hearn transferring half of his majority shareholding to the trust.

The move has been made to bring the local youth academy, local businesses and fans closer to the team and have a say on major decisions.

The Community Trust is a not for profit organisation and had over 500 members.

Trust Member David Ring says they hope to fully take over the club in the future; "We'd love to have full ownership, we believe there are a lot of benefits. There's the financial sustainability and accountability to the supporters and the community to the club shareholders. This will give long term sustainability to the future of the club".
