Former Dorchester Town favourite Mark Jermyn has agreed to become the club's new player/manager.

The 34-year-old played more than 600 times during 14 seasons with the Magpies and became the club’s record appearance maker in September 2013. He will watch today’s match from the stand.

The club's issued a statement on its website this morning in which he says, ''I have always held Dorchester Town close to my heart because I grew up there, I think I was 19 when I joined and 33 when I left. “I made great friends there and still kept in contact with many of the players, staff and supporters, I always looked out for their results. I am delighted to be coming back''.

The club board would like to sincerely thank Poole Town who gave permission to speak to Jermyn and to Nick Crittenden and Stuart Heath who stepped in soon after the departure of Graham Kemp.

Jermyn is expected to take charge of his first game away at Truro City on Saturday January 24th (KO 3:00pm), subject to completion of various paperwork early next week.
