Rugby's greatest prize - the Web Ellis Cup will be visiting Weymouth this summer.

Rugby's greatest prize - the Web Ellis Cup will be visiting Weymouth this summer.

Weymouth and Portland RFC will welcome the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour on Sunday 12th July at their annual beach tag and touch rugby festival.

Local clubs and schools are being urged to enter teams.

The trophy is making a 100 day journey across the UK and Ireland before finally arriving at Twickenham Stadium in September.

Chris Davis, Secretary of Weymouth and Portland RFC said: "This will be a great honour for the club and Weymouth and Portland to host the Trophy Tour at our annual beach rugby festival and will be a highlight of this year's event."

Debbie Jevans, Chief Executive Officer of England Rugby 2015, said: "With less than six months to go we are delighted to announce that Weymouth and Portland will host the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour on its 100 day journey."
