Wessex FM at the Pommery Dorset Seafood Festival 2017

Wessex FM will be broadcasting live through this weekend from the 10th annual Pommery Dorset Seafood Festival in Weymouth!

Our top tip is to arrive hungry - there are so many amazing places to eat and drink around the Festival, either side of the harbour and in front of Weymouth Pavilion, where you'll find the Wessex FM team.

The event grows every year, with crowds of more than 50,000 expected to see top chefs in action, a host of local producers and suppliers, and of course plenty of seafood to try.

New this year is 'Fishy Tales' as well known names discuss everything fishy from catching to cooking.  Nick Fisher hosts the event at 2pm on Saturday at the Stable, with chef Mitch Tonks and Jeremy Paxman among the speakers.

Our coverage is with The Ilchester Arms - make sure you visit them on their stand by the harbour, where award winning chef Tom Harrison will be cooking smoked salmon scotch eggs, grilled mackerel baps, king scallops, and passion fruit salad!

Travel Advice

It's likely to be very busy heading to the Festival across the weekend, so make sure you're tuned into Wessex FM for the latest travel information.

It would be useful to follow this advice:

  • Use public transport where possible, or walk if you are fairly nearby!
  • Leave plenty of time for your journey

First Bus Service 2 runs every 10 minutes from the Park & Ride site to the town centre, from 6:30am on Saturday and 7:30am on Sunday, with the last bus back at midnight

Road closures

Custom House Quay, St Thomas Street, and the Town Bridge, Trinity Road and Cove Row are all closed 6am-8pm Saturday and 8am-8pm Sunday.

The Esplanade will be closed from the King George Statue to the Pavilion car park from 11am-8pm on both days.  Lower St Alban Street and part of St Thomas Street will also be closed at these times.
