Leading country lifestyle brand, SCATS Countrystores will officially open its bigger, better store in Dorchester on Tuesday 13th April followed by a celebratory event for the whole community on Saturday 17th April from 10am – 4pm, where the SCATS Countrystore team and customers will be joined by TV’s Kirstie Allsopp!

On Tuesday 13th April, The Mayor of Dorchester, Councillor Susie Hosford will formerly declare the store open following a ribbon cutting ceremony lead by Town Crier of Dorchester Alistair Chisholm.

Kirstie Allsopp, celebrated TV presenter well known for her passion and love of the English countryside will be joining colleagues and customers from 10am – 1pm at the new look SCATS Countystore in Dorchester for a fun packed open day on Saturday 17th April.


Following the success of shows including Location, Location, Location and Kirstie’s Homemade homes, the much loved TV personality will be meeting and greeting customers, signing autographs and joining in the days activities.

Kirstie Allsopp said, “I’m really excited to be joining customers and colleagues to celebrate the new look SCATS Countrystore in Dorchester on Saturday 17th April. It’s sure to be a fun packed day for the whole family.”

Highlights throughout the day include two performances by Kath Hardman and her incredible dancing dog Spice, International Winner of Crufts Freestyle. Kath will also be on hand to provide tips on dog training for SCAT’S customers throughout the day.

Customers will be able to enjoy regional food and drink tastings from local Dorset suppliers including Hunts Foods as well as a complimentary hog roast and drinks with all donations going to the Margaret Green Animal Rescue Centre.

A supplier marquee will offer the chance for visitors to talk to specialists on a number of leading pet feed and health products including Frontline, Joint Aid and Skinners. Children can enjoy face painting plus they’ll be a dog tagging service and chance to enter a free prize draw to win a Tobago Garden furniture set. Dorset Police will also be joining the store on the day to talk about the Horse Watch scheme.

The new look SCATS Countrystore in Dorchester has tripled in size to 12,000 sq ft of shop floor space featuring hugely extended ranges including a dedicated farm services area, a brand new regional food and drink department and much needed extra car parking. Following customer feedback, the extended store has been designed around their needs and feedback and specifically caters for the strong farming, equine and rural community in and around Dorchester.

A major new feature and a first for SCATS Countrystores will be a dedicated Mole Valley Farmers Farm Services area in the centre of the store where agricultural customers can talk and discuss their needs with specialist advisors in an open plan office environment.  Linked to this is a dedicated animal health dispensary for farm, equine and pet medicines.

The new store layout, design and merchandising has a brand new look and feel which if successful will be rolled out in the other 18 SCATS Countrystores across the south of England. This includes 6 new colour coded store zones which group together key product categories including farming, gardening, pet, equine, clothing and food & drink.
